Take care of scratching, although the tv does come packed with protective covers on the scratchable surfaces. These glossy surfaces look good, but much like mobile phones which are also packed with protective coverings they also get scratched with heavy use.
The KDL32W550 0U is definitely a compact unit so it is ideal if you don’t want a tv set to dominate the room. Let’s face it, most of us girls don’t want the kind of TV that does this. We want something that looks good and serves its specific purpose. I have read reviews that say the Sony 32E5500 looks better but I really don’t believe this is true.
Most Sony screens have a “Wega Gate” type menu, but the Sony KDL32W550 0U has done away with this for a more innovative user interface, much the same as the interface used by the Sony Playstation 3. This is a very neat concept and I really like it, however other people may prefer the more traditional menus. The menu is displayed with icons rather than words such as “color”, “contrast” etcetera, so they may take some getting used to.
Getting used to the KDL32W550 0U menu may be difficult to get used to for the traditional menu user. Take my father for example, he thinks my TV is so advanced it doesn’t need a remote. I just don’t tell him that I have hidden it so he can’ meddle with my settings. You know what men are like with remote controls!
The KDL32W550 0U has a great video processor, and to be honest that is about all I really need to know. If you want more technical product information, you should be reading the specs elsewhere. I am a tv set user, not a designer, all I look for is a great picture and good looks. As long as I can watch videos and DVD’s I am happy.
The Sony Bravia KDL32W550 0U is a great top of the range Sony model, it works perfectly with my decor and was exactly the right price for me. It blends well with my modern/art deco style furniture, and fits beautifully into the corner that has been awaiting its arrival.
