The Panasonic TX-L37S10 TV – A First Review

The Panasonic TX-L37S10 is an entry-level LCD TV with Full High Definition capability. Entry-level means it’s not the heaviest TV on the wallet, but has solid functionality without a massive amount of extras.

First off, in terms of design, it is black, glossy and so fairly generic, looking no different to a host of similar liquid crystal and plasma televisions in the same bracket.

However, on closer look, the television boasts 3 HDMI inputs, as well as a PC input socket and SD card slots to view photos and the like. Nowadays, several HDMI slots are a great advantage. You may have a games console and separate Blu-ray player. There are even a number of digital cameras or video cameras – especially ones made by Panasonic – able to broadcast in HD. Having all these sockets reduces the headache of having to change over cables every time you want to change the appliance.

The SD card socket is great for boring friends and family with your holiday/wedding photos, directly on the screen. Not only that, but the TX-L37S10 allows you to choose from 3 types of background music and 4 display effects whilst you view the images.

Panasonic is known for its pioneering technology and this TV, although entry-level, contains the Viera-standard IPS Alpha panel. This gives several advantages:

For example, this helps the television produce crisp and clear images even if you are sitting at an angle to the screen, meaning that images don’t appear faded. Again, great if you have pals around and you don’t want to sit as if you are waiting for a bus.

The Panasonic TX-L37S10 also boasts new backlight technology that boosts contrast ratios up to 50, 000 to 1. This technology constantly monitors what is going on on the screen and adjusts backlight to produce the best possible image.

Images in motion are stable, and incredibly sharp. Motion blur and haloing is almost nonexistent, even when displaying today’s computer-generated fast action superhero movies.

One of the weaker points of the television is the Eco Mode, which reduces power consumption. This produces a rather dark picture so if you do opt for it, you will need to twiddle the contrast and brightness settings.

One of the best things about the TX-L37S10 is the built-in free-to-air receiver. The pictures produced by the television are stable and almost noiseless. Panasonic really knows how to upscale standard definition and this is also shown in DVD output.

The television manufacturers state that they use their pioneering V-Audio surround sound. This is meant to alter the sound to accommodate the size of your room using sound reflection sensors on the TV. That said, the speakers are somewhat weak.

The Full HD is also wonderfully handled. Blu-ray movies, be it today’s eye-candy CGI movies through to blue oceans and green jungles are all shown in vivid and realistic colors with crisp, clean lines.

The Panasonic TX-L37S10 is a great all round entry-level TV with some great features.
