But the manufacturers feel you should. If you are in the habit of hanging on to your stuff bear this in mind. What the sales people don't tell you!!! Under EU law you have an automatic 2yr lawful guarantee against faulty goods. This overrides any bullshit a sales person might tell you if you return a faulty item ouside the usual 1yr manufacturers warranty. This is the strongest piece of legislation to quote. The Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002:Gives you up to 5yrs but is harder to prove your case. More info below. DON'T be ripped off by paying extended guarantees from sales people!!
