hehemini stereo systems or home theaters. which is better ?

I am considering buying the new sony 750 watts mini stereo system. at the same time, i don’t know if home theater systems would be better of. give me a suggestions if u have any info on the difference btw the two. By the way, I would be using it for my room, not a studio. which has a better sound quality, and which is louder and more surround?

Great question. What your asking doesnt have a simple black/white answer. Do you have any model numbers in mind of either? If so..You can do basic research on these models but to address your question Ill give you some advise.
A "Home Theater System" like a Home Theater in the Box can offer descet surround sound but unless you drop above 400 on one, it wont live up to your expectations…Denon makes a good one for around $549..
As far as a sony mini stereo system its designed to play music in stereo. If you so happen to play movie sound through it naturally you wont have surround sound…
But I will have to say a stereo music system will give you much more volume than a bare bones HTIB!
